Journal
Calling your dad keeps coming back – third time this week. Never as a plan, just as the thing you didn't do. The car and the dentist are noise on top – handled below.
Also caught – 3 to-dos, out of your way
We solved capture with one click. The real problem starts after.
Your head is a tab hoarder
Call your dad back. The noise the car keeps making. The dentist you keep not booking. Open loops don’t file themselves away – they resurface at 2am, in the middle of meetings, in the shower again.
Notes apps are where thoughts go to die
You’ve tried. The note got taken – and joined four hundred untitled siblings you’ll never read again. You built a graveyard with a search bar.
Organizing is a second job
Folders, tags, titles, “inbox zero for notes”. Every system works for nine days. The mess always wins – because the mess is how thinking actually comes out.
Dump it. Done. Notka takes it from there.
One button, zero format
Click, talk, tap. Half-sentences, tangents, three topics in one breath – say it how it actually comes out. Typing works too, just as messy.
The mess comes back organized
Seconds later: your to-dos pulled out and listed, the journal-worthy part kept in your own words, the filler gone. You never see the raw ramble again unless you ask.
Nothing you say is wasted
Every note joins one searchable base – and feeds the reflections Notka writes back to you, from daily to yearly. Capture is the entrance, not the destination.
Five seconds of friction kills the note.
A thought survives about as long as it takes to unlock your phone. Every tap between you and “recording” is a chance for it to evaporate – or for you to decide it wasn't worth it.
- 1Unlock the phone
- 2Hunt for the app
- 3Open it, wait
- 4Find the record button
- 5Say it – if it’s still there
5 steps. The thought left at step 3.
- 1Click one button
- 2Talk
- 3Tap. Done.
One click, and it's already listening.
Works through an Apple Shortcut on your lock screen, Action Button – or by voice, through Siri. One-time setup, we walk you through it: about a minute, no fiddling.
Writing it down is what gets it out of my head. Why would I go back and read it?
– every journaler, eventually
Why talking works
An unfinished thing doesn't wait quietly – it keeps interrupting whatever you're doing next. Writing down a concrete plan for it is enough to stop the interruptions: a well-replicated result, and the reason a thirty-second dump feels like putting something down.
Masicampo & Baumeister (2011), Journal of Personality and Social Psychology – “Consider It Done! Plan Making Can Eliminate the Cognitive Effects of Unfulfilled Goals”. On offloading only working when you trust the place you put it: Storm & Stone (2015), Psychological Science – “Saving-Enhanced Memory”.
You can say a whole tangent in the time it takes to thumb out one sentence. A thirty-second ramble is a paragraph you were never going to type – so it gets said instead of skipped.
Ask any journaling community: re-reading your own archive is the most-promised, least-done ritual there is. Notka's bet – the system should do the re-reading, not you.
The part where you push back
Fair objections, answered straight.
Why not just talk to ChatGPT?
Three real differences. Push vs pull: ChatGPT answers when you ask – Notka comes back to you, with reflections arriving daily to yearly whether or not you remembered to prompt anything. A dump, not a conversation: capture is one button and thirty seconds. And steering works over your whole base, not one chat window. Honestly? A power user could rig up 80% of this with ChatGPT and discipline. Notka is for the version of you that doesn't want the second job.
Do I have to talk? What if I’m on a train?
Text works everywhere voice does – same structuring, same reflections – and text is unlimited on the free plan. Voice is the default because it's faster, not a requirement.
What happens to my audio?
It's transcribed, then it's gone. Notka never stores your voice – the recording exists just long enough to become words. The privacy rules below apply to everything else.
My thoughts are genuinely chaotic. ADHD-grade chaotic.
That's the design target, not an edge case. No format to follow, no prompt to answer, nothing to fill in. The one rule: say it before it evaporates. Notka sorts out the rest.
What does free actually get me?
Unlimited text capture, voice minutes every month, and daily + weekly reflections delivered to your inbox. Pro adds the deeper reflection tiers and more steering. No card to start – and whatever else changes, your notes and full export stay free.
Your thoughts stay yours.
Your voice is transcribed, then deleted – there is no bucket of recordings. Your words never train anyone's models. Export is free, and leaving is allowed.
